Pride in Place Update - September 2026

1 min read

The UK Government’s new Pride in Place programme has the potential to be truly transformational for Springburn and Sighthill, bringing £20 million in regeneration funding to the area over the next decade. From revitalising high streets and public spaces to preserving local heritage, this initiative focuses on long-term renewal rather than short-term fixes.

Crucially, decisions on how this funding is spent will be driven entirely by the community. Last week, our Neighbourhood Board - a group of local advocates and representatives led by Jim Hope BEM - met for the second time with Glasgow City Council officials to establish robust governance and determine how local organisations can apply for funding. It is important that we get this right so we can move forward with confidence.

Our main priority this side of Christmas is to draft and submit a ten-year vision strategy document to the UK Government. We are required to submit this document before any money can be spent. This process relies on resident input, so please keep an eye out for upcoming consultation details.

As this is an entirely new initiative, we are learning as we go - but Pride in Place represents a genuine, long-term commitment to delivering real change for Springburn and Sighthill over the next ten years.

We will soon launch a dedicated website where you can stay up to date with our progress.
